AUSTIN (KXAN)- Four-legged companions were at The Domain Saturday afternoon for a day of contests, competitions and fun in support of a local non-profit centered around dog rescue awareness.
The 9th annual Dogtoberfest was held at The Domain II between Dick’s Sporting Goods and Dillard’s Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and featured festivities for two-legged and four-legged attendees. The event is an annual fundraiser that supports local dog-rescue organizations.
Admission to the event was free, however, a $25 VIP tent access option was available to attendees which included two drink tickets, appetizers, soft drinks and a swag bag.
Dogtoberfest included 50 pet-related vendor booths that ranged from rescue groups to pet stores, a silent auction, a canine costume contest, wiener dog races, pet portraits and pet-related demonstrations. Best of Show was won by a confident pug in a dress named Vana White with a Wheel of Fortune prop to compliment the outfit and name. Vana won a basket full of pet-friendly goodies.
Dogtoberfest Austin is a local non-profit organization that puts a priority on spreading awareness about dog rescue, as well as raising money for local dog rescue organizations. There is no paid staff and all of the proceeds benefit local dog rescue organizations. Since its beginning, Dogtoberfest Austin has raised over $215,000 for their beneficiaries.
