BURLESON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A video circulating on social media of a Snook Independent School District employee trying to discipline and control a young student is causing the district to take a close look at the teacher.
The video was posted on Thursday by a mother whose son attends the elementary school. In her post, she said her son recorded the incident as it was happening. In the video, you can see the teacher grab the child by his arms and push him into a bean bag chair, he does this twice. The teacher can be heard saying, “When I tell you to sit in the blue bean bag, you do it.”
The district says the Snook ISD employee, who is a behavioral specialist, was attempting to exert discipline and control over a young student. The incident was reported to the principal by another student in the room.
The mother who posted the video to Facebook says in her caption that her son showed the video to the principal but she proceeded to erase it. She says her son actually sent the video to another phone as a back-up copy.
In the district’s statement, they say “The principal did an excellent job in quickly obtaining and preserving available video evidence from school cameras and a student’s mobile device.”
The instructor has been removed from the classroom pending a full review and investigation.
According to KXXV, the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident after finding out about it through social media.
Snook ISD is located in Snook, Texas, a small town just a few miles south of College Station.
