AUSTIN (KXAN) — A large, new building is taking shape on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. It will eventually house the McCombs School of Business.

Rowling Hall — at the corner of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Guadalupe Street — has been under construction for about a year. Friday, KXAN was invited inside to see the 458,000-square foot facility.

We saw renderings of what will become a large, cavernous ballroom, classrooms, meeting spaces and even a cafe inside.

“We want to bring together ideas, have overlapping communities that debate big, thorny, challenging problems, and come up with innovative solutions to those,” said Eric Hirst, the senior associate dean for academic affairs.

UT hopes to have the facility finished in November of next year, with students learning inside in the spring of 2018.
