Sharpen Up Your Kitchen Knowledge

A well stocked pantry does you no good without the right tools to prepare the food. Kettle and Brine owner Tarica Navarro stopped by Studio 512 to help us get back to basics and look sharp. First we did some pretty simple knife maintenance. We ran the full length of both sides of the knife up and down a sharpening block. If you use your knives daily, it’s good to sharpen them once every few weeks. Tarica also showed us a few pieces of cookware we all need in our homes. Porcelain sauce pans are a must-have because the cleanup is super easy. A decorative roasting dish is also good to have around. You can take your food from the oven to the table, and enhance the look with the decorative touch. Find Kettle and Brine at 908 W 12th Street or online at You can also call them at 512-375-4239. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
