SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — The city of San Marcos is improving their public transportation system by adding five new buses to their fleet. What used to be called CARTS for the city is now called “The Bus.”
All new buses are equipped with Wi-Fi and will operate more economically by using ultra-clean diesel.
With the addition of more buses, the company will be able to make more frequent stops at bus stops. They also say waiting for The Bus to arrive will soon be a little more comfortable as well.
“We started with two shelters, but there are going to be 15 more added. We have all of our new stop signs around the city, we just modified the routes a bit and we have new pocket maps available,” said CARTS Community Services Director Dana Platt.
All rides are free with The Bus through Friday. On Friday there will be a “roll out” party and at some bus stops, riders will be treated to free pizza and other goodies from HEB.
