Pamela Donnelly, college admissions specialist, joined us in the KXAN studio to give parents and students some tips before applying. She is in Austin this week to talk to schools about the Gate College System.

“Gate is on a mission to equalize access to college admissions with the first holistic, comprehensive college admissions curriculum available,” said Donnelly. “Created by a team of 26 Ivy League level educators with 250 years of combined experience.”

The system offers students an interactive, digital platform that covers all four cornerstones of college admissions preparation: grades, admissions, testing, and essays.

Key strategies to get into college:

  1. Don’t try to do it all
  2. Utilize community resources
  3. Get strategic with activities
  4. Know when to prepare for the SAT or ACT
  5. Pick the right test for their brain
  6. Stand out on applications
  7. Don’t go broke on college tuition
