Create a Painting to Remember Your Trip to the Beach

At the Rockport Center of the Arts you’ll find an art gallery, local artists, classes and more. We spent time with plein air artist June Ainsworth to indulge in the Rockport art culture. Plein air art is exactly what you think it is. Painting done outside in the fresh air. All you need is a canvas, paint and a subject in front of you. Since we were in Rockport, we painted by a harbor where there is an abundance of unique boats because no two are the same. Every day in Rockport, it’s likely you’ll see someone painting outside. Children can even take part in plein air painting. You can start your painting by picking a “big shape” like a boat. Once you paint your main lines, the rest is easy. Mixing your colors is the best part. A painting like this will certainly add a personal touch to your home after a fun beach trip. Go to to check out their classes, workshops events and exhibitions.
