AUSTIN (KXAN) — Premiere Lady Fitness’s North Austin location is open at least until Friday. The popular neighborhood gym’s south location abruptly closed in July.

Carrie Reese has been going to the gym for more than a decade. “I’m disappointed, because I love coming here. I love the atmosphere,” Reese said.

A KXAN investigation revealed dozens of members were out a lot of money. The gym owner said customers could go to their second location, but now that’s closing too.

“I hate it because for me it’s extremely convenient,” another member, Caroline Schwass said Monday after driving to the gym to get more information.

Members say equipment has been falling apart and so has the plumbing. Schwass learned the latest news from an instructor. When asked if she was notified by the owners, Schwass said, “No… they didn’t notify me.”

The lack of notification was one of the biggest frustrations from members KXAN heard about during the investigation last month about the gym’s south location.

Members were told the owners are working on refunds, which we found their contract states they’re owed, but  they tell us they’re still waiting.

Court records show the owners owe more than $80,000 in past due rent and late fees. Premiere Lady Fitness owns the building that houses its gym up north, but an owner we spoke with Monday said she wasn’t comfortable telling us why it’s closing.

“The way they are treating us it’s just not right giving no notice at all,” said Reese “I understand things happen last minute — at least post a sign on the door…  there’s still not a sign.”

We spoke with one of the owners Nicole Attwood on the phone Monday afternoon. She says they just announced that the gym is closing and that they are working with members on refunds and trying to find them other gyms.

She also says since she owns only a small percentage, she doesn’t have control over refunds, but hopes the members get their money back soon.

KXAN has learned some members are now working with their credit card companies to get their money back. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
