AUSTIN (KXAN) — A call to the community is asking for Ausinites to donate cleanup supplies and toiletries to survivors of Hurricane Matthew in St. Augustine, Florida.
The Austin Disaster Relief Network is partnering with local businesses, including Tito’s Handmade Vodka and C3 Presents, to fill an 18-wheeler with items to help those hit by the hurricane begin to recover. Tito’s is providing the semi-truck to transport the donated items. C3 is donating pallets of water.
You can donate these items:
- New undergarments (all sizes and for all ages)
- New socks
- Toiletries (shampoo, face wash, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes)
- New bed pillows
- New blankets
- Cleanup supplies
- Black trash bags
- Mops and buckets
- Utility knives
- Leather work gloves
- Inflatable mattresses
- Hand sanitizer
- Box fans
Drop off your items at the Hope Family Thrift Store at 1122 East 51st Street from Oct. 10 through 15 starting at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We’ve endured four disasters in the Austin-area in the last 16 months, including two of historic proportions,” said Daniel Geraci, the Executive Director of Austin Disaster Relief Network. “So the people of Austin understand the emotional, spiritual and physical impact of disasters. The Austin Disaster Relief Network is honored to partner with Tito’s Handmade Vodka and C3 Presents to serve hurricane survivors in St. Augustine by supporting their cleanup efforts and basic needs as they begin the long-term recovery process.”
