LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — The bodies of a man and woman were discovered in a vehicle that, the Texas Department of Public Safety says, crashed weeks ago three miles northeast of Leander.
According to DPS, a person discovered a crashed 2014 Nissan Altima in a heavily wooded area of Ranch to Market Road 2243 on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Officials determined the man and woman found inside had died weeks previous. The victims were identified Monday as Warren Thomson, 76, of Georgetown, and Johanna Sturm, 73, from Corpus Christi.
According to police, the driver drove off the roadway for unknown reasons traveling through a ditch and hitting several trees. The dense woods concealed the car for an undetermined amount of time.
DPS said no missing person reports were filed for either victim. Their families have been notified.
