BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) — Volunteers spent their Saturday morning cleaning windows, picking up trash and beautifying downtown Bastrop.
Every year, Bastrop hosts thousands of visitors for events like the Veteran’s Day Car Show and Lost Pines Christmas. With those, and the busy fall season right around the corner, city leaders with the City of Bastrop Main Street Program called on volunteers to help spruce up the area.
“Downtown Bastrop is the centerpiece to our tourism industry,” Sarah O’Brien, the program’s director said. “We want to ensure that everyone has the best impression possible of our historically hip downtown area.”
Corporations helped out the efforts by donating supplies like paper towels, gloves, buckets and brooms. Water and breakfast were provided to volunteers by local businesses.
Event organizers hope to make the cleanups happen on a regular basis in the future.
