AUSTIN (KXAN) — The swimmer who drowned in Hamilton Pool on Oct. 2 has been identified as Juan Antonio Ramirez-Lopez, 20, from Mexico.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office dive team recovered the body of Lopez on Oct. 3 at 9:50 a.m. He was found at a depth of 25 feet. Medics pronounced Lopez dead at the scene.

Witnesses at the pool say they saw a man go underwater and never resurface on Sunday. Swimmers looked for the man, who was there with friends, but visibility was low and they were unable to find him.

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office is waiting for the results of the toxicology report.

In August, a 17-year-old died as a result of being underwater at Hamilton Pool for nearly 30 minutes.
