Annual walk aims to help Austinites with HIV, AIDS

AUSTIN (KXAN) — An event coming up in Austin is hoping to get a boost from the community to help people with HIV and AIDS.

It’s a part of the 29th annual AIDS Walk Austin. Joining us in the KXAN studio is Cambriae Bates, the Special Events Coordinator for ASA.

So far, they have raised $92,508.89 of their $240,000 goal. The event is Sunday, Oct. 16 at Palm Park. Registration begins at 11 a.m., opening ceremonies start at 1:30 p.m. and the walk starts at 2 p.m.

The walk loops around Austin starting at Palm Park going to Congress Avenue, taking the scenic route past the capitol and then back to the park.
