Taco Day: Texas Democrats push taco lovers to register to vote

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A debate that is almost as fiercely divided as the presidential election. Where can you find the best taco in Austin?

That is the question on everyone’s mind for National Taco Day. Texas Democrats are using this tasty Tuesday to push people to register to vote.

Across Austin, restaurants are working with the Travis County Democratic Party and voter registrars to push Texans to the polls. Local leaders will also join the initiative, State Representative Eddie Rodriguez, and Austin City Council Member Pio Renteria will be out encouraging Austinites to vote.

The Travis County Democratic Party and Texas Democratic Party along with city officials will be at Joe’s Bakery & Coffee Shop on 2305 E 7th St. from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

You can also enjoy some free tacos at the Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa. They will be giving out Al Pastor Tacos from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. There will also be margaritas and $2 Carne Asada tacos all night in the Barton’s Lounge.
