AUSTIN (KXAN) — The man killed in a crash in East Austin early Sunday morning has been identified.

Jose Rogelio, 34, was heading northbound in the 7500 block of Cameron Road — just south of East Anderson Lane — when he went around a curve too fast, police said, and lost control of his car. Rogelio drove into the center median and crashed into a tree around 12:19 a.m. His car burst into flames after the impact.

No one else was inside the car.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Austin-Travis County EMS. The incident is still under investigation by Austin police. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-5594.
