AUSTIN (KXAN) — The motorcyclist who died in a crash on North MoPac Expressway on Wednesday, Sept. 28, has been identified.

Stephen Crowell, Jr., 32, was riding a motorcycle southbound on MoPac near RM 2222 when he hit an SUV’s rear bumper and slid down the road. Austin police say the crash caused the SUV to strike the guardrail.

Crowell was pronounced dead at the scene. Due to the strong odor of alcohol coming from Crowell, police suspect intoxication as a factor in the crash.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the APD Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-5594.
