TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A dive team has recovered the body of the missing swimmer at Hamilton Pool, according to Austin/Travis County EMS.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He is estimated to be in his 20s.

Bystanders at the pool said they saw a man go underwater and not come back up on Sunday. Swimmers looked for the man, who was there with friends, but visibility was low and they were unable to find him.

The call was placed at 4:40 p.m. and medics, Travis County Sheriff’s Department and STAR Flight were investigating. There were six rescue swimmers searching the Hamilton Pool area.

Sunday night, according to a tweet sent out by ATCEMS, rescue efforts ended and the situation has transitioned to recovery.

A spokesperson for Travis County Parks says the Hamilton Pool Preserve will be closed Monday.

In August, a 17-year-old died as a result of being underwater at Hamilton Pool for nearly 30 minutes.
