ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — Round Rock’s largest area festival returned this weekend welcoming thousands of participants.
The Chalk Walk and Arts Festival began in downtown Round Rock Friday, with residents, artists and visitors joining to take part in the event. Musicians, vocal groups, theatrical performances paired with food and drink to entertain guests as artists chalked up murals.
This year the top artist took home $1000, with second and third place finishers taking home $300 and $200 prizes. Other judging categories included Best Representation of Round Rock, Best Animal, Best New Comer and Most Creative.
Dale Watson took the stage Friday and teams of culinary students battled it out for a scholarship in in the first-ever Chalk Walk High School Food Truck Battle.
Round Rock’s Chalk Walk is produced by a nonprofit arts organization and has given more than $380,000 back to the community over the years.
