TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A SWAT standoff in eastern Travis County that went on for more than 24 hours ended peacefully Saturday morning.
The sheriff’s office said Craig Alan Juby, 41, was barricaded inside his home on Hibbs Lane — a few miles south of U.S. 290 between Manor and Elgin — since around 8:24 a.m. Friday when officers responded to a call of a family disturbance. SWAT officers were in contact with the man and used non-lethal tactics to try to coax Juby out of his home, but were unsuccessful.
Juby fired shots out of a window, but no one was hurt. He was evaluated by Austin-Travis County EMS personnel before being taken into custody at 9 a.m. Saturday.
He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
TCSO says there was no threat to the community during the standoff.
Earlier Friday, a SWAT situation in East Austin also ended peacefully. Police responding to a disturbance call said a man refused to come out of his home. The last prolonged SWAT call in the area was on Sept. 19, when a 72-year-old woman was in a standoff with police for seven hours, after she brandished a gun following a domestic dispute. When she did come out, the woman was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.
