Fed Truck Friday raising money for hungry Austinites in need

AUSTIN (KXAN) — It’s Fed Truck Friday! An initiative that will give 10 percent of proceeds from Austin food trucks to Keep Austin Fed.

Joining us in the studio to talk about feeding people around Austin is Eric Muyldermans, owner of The Wafel Guys.

Keep Austin Fed is a non-profit that works to fill the stomachs of Austinites in need. They provide healthy food to hundreds of those who struggle to feed themselves or their family. The organization say one in seven people don’t know where they will get their next meal.

To participate in Fed Truck Friday all you have to do is walk up to a food truck and say “I’m here to feed my face and spread the love,” said Muyldermans.

Originally from Belgium, Muyldermans said he was given the name waffle guy because of his native roots.

“I was making these waffles already for friends and family and actually my business partner, who’s been a friend ever since I moved to Austin, was like hey we need to start selling these waffles, people need to know about this what the real traditional waffle is,” said Muyldermans.
