BUDA, Texas (KXAN) — You can do just about everything with the convenience of your phone, but one city says they’re taking it a step further. Not only can you pay your city bills with an app in Buda, you can also grow your business.
“Buda is a very tech-savvy community,” said the city’s Public Information Officer David Marino.
Just 15 miles south of Austin, the city of Buda has seen tremendous growth. To welcome everyone and make them feel comfortable, the city says there’s an app for that.
“We’re trying to make things as easy as possible for the people that move here and it also helps us be more efficient I think as a city,” said Marino.
With “Buda Connect,” people in Buda can have a conversation with the city manager, request to have a city park mowed or even request a building permit — all in the palm of their hand. “People don’t want to have to come down here to pay a bill anymore. They don’t want to have to call all the time either, it’s a lot more convenient and easier for them to just get online and do it,” said Marino.
Marino says residents have made a variety of requests ranging from reporting a pothole to asking the library a question. Once submitted to the city through the app, personnel can start working to fix the problem within minutes.
“We are able to see those requests immediately instead of getting call after call after call, we are able to keep up with it electronically, and I think that that does cut out some of that time factor,” said Marino. “You’ll see where your request is in the process, whether it’s in process, whether it’s been completed or whether it’s just been submitted.”
For the city, it’s a more organized way of doing business and for those in Buda, it’s a quicker way to do theirs.
“Our goal is to make it as easy as possible whether they have a request or they want to get a building permit,” said Marino.
The app can be downloaded for free to both Apple and Android devices through their app stores by searching “BudaConnect.”
