AUSTIN (KXAN) — A traffic stop along Interstate 35 in north Austin yielded nearly $100,000 worth of cocaine.
Austin police say they pulled over 37-year-old Pedro Garcia on Sunday, Sept. 25, around 6 p.m. While talking to Garcia, police say he “showed deception” and asked if they could search his Ford F-350.
Narcotics K9 Emma did a search of the vehicle and identified possible narcotics inside the truck. The truck was taken to a mechanic shop for further inspection. Police say once the vehicle was thoroughly examined, they found four packages of cocaine in the front-end of the truck.
Police say the total weight of the drugs was 3 kilograms with an estimated street value of $90,000. Garcia was booked into Travis County jail where he awaits transfer to federal custody for narcotics trafficking charges.
