A Deeper Look Into Austin’s Public Graffiti Park

Art is what makes this city so unique and beautiful. We hit the streets with some spray paint and talked with Program Coordinator Miles Starkey about Austin’s big attraction, Hope Outdoor Gallery. It’s a graffiti park that allows artists and the public to express their emotions. Whether it’s to show your creativity, or express and address real world issues. The Hope Outdoor Gallery is a place that is a voice for the creative public. It is definitely considered a tourist attraction in Austin. People from all over the states come to explore the gallery, and also leave their mark by painting on the many walls. There are three rules: 1. Respect other artists 2. Pick up trash 3. Watch out for poison ivy. If you see a pair of eyes, the artist is Miles. It’s kinda his thing. A pair of eyes convey a lot of emotion. If you are interested and want to paint send an email to murals@hopecampaign.org. Hope Outdoor Gallery does not provide the paint.

Hope Outdoor Gallery is located at 1101 Baylor Street. Check them out online at hopecampaign.org for more information.
