AUSTIN (KXAN) — As the Pecan Street Festival takes over Sixth Street, Capital Metro will offer extended hours on MetroRail to help alleviate traffic congestion.

Service will begin early Saturday, with the first southbound departure leaving the Kramer Station at 10:20 a.m. Service will be offered between the Lakeline and Downtown Stations every 34 minutes beginning at 11:08 a.m. with a final northbound downtown departure at midnight.

Capital Metro anticipates that buses and trains will be full during the festival. Wagons and non-folding strollers will not be allowed on board, but collapsible strollers, folded and stowed during the ride, will be welcome. If trains reach standing room only, the total number of bikes allowed will be limited to eight.

MetroRail does not operate on Sunday.

Capital Metro’s online Trip Planner, the Cap Metro App and the Capital Metro GO Line at (512) 474-1200 are available to help festival goers plan their trip to and from the Pecan Street Festival.
