They say, “Eating is a necessity, but cooking is a art.” The work of some of Austin’s top chefs are being inspired by the masterpieces of some of Austin’s great artists. Chef Wayne Brooks stopped by to share information about ArtBites and how it’s helping a wonderful cause. He also whipped us up a delicious bite, Shaved Ahi Tuna and Smoked Salmon. This bite was inspired by the artwork: Parting of Red Sea by Hunt Slonem. Now in its fifth year, the gallery’s owner Lisa Russell has selected nine works of art for each chef to interpret into his or her own culinary masterpiece in one delicious bite. ArtBites will benefit Central Texas Foster Children. A portion of the proceeds from the $45 ticket sales will be donated to Hopefully Sow, as will 5% of the evening’s art sales.
ArtBites takes place on Thursday, Sept. 22nd from 6-8 p.m. at the Russell Collection Fine Art Gallery on West 6th Street.
