AUSTIN (KXAN) — Triple digit heat is back in the forecast after the cooler weather tease last week.

Historically, Austin has been like a Katy Perry song during September with hot and cold temperatures. Austin’s average last 100º day of the summer is August 20, but triple digit heat has been recorded as late as Oct. 2, 1938.

  1. Gov. Greg Abbott burned over the summer: The Texas Governor suffered serious burns while he was on vacation in Wyoming over the summer. Due to the fact that the governor is paralyzed from the waist down, he did not realize his feet were in the hot water for several minutes.
  2. Pedestrian dies in South Austin crash: A man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the crash on the 600 block of West St. Elmo Rd. before 10 p.m. Sunday.
  3. Rice band received backlash after satirical half-timeRice University says their band may have gone too far. The marching band formed a roman numeral nine on the field to represent Title Nine. That is the federal law Baylor is accused of violating in their sexual assault scandals.
