FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (KXAN) — Receiving pleas from the Fredericksburg community, a beloved music hall will be rebuilt after it was burned to the ground by a suspected arsonist.
The popular venue saw numerous weddings and hosted hundreds of events after it was built in 1871. The fire that claimed the historic Turner Hall on June 19 is being investigated as an arson.
The Tuner Hall Board of Directors agreed to rebuild the piece of Fredericksburg history. A city-wide social will take place at Marktplatz on Sept. 25 to raise funds in an effort to restore the hall.
According to Fredericksburg police, the department found evidence someone entered the hall to steal something before the fire was started. Police believe it was that person who ignited the blaze.
A person of interest has been identified in the investigation, but police have not ruled out the possibility other people were involved.
Anyone with information or possible surveillance video from the area is asked to call Detective Kris Kammlah at 830-997-7585 or Crime Stoppers at 830-997-TIPS.
