AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man is in custody after SWAT was called to a home in Northwest Austin Sunday evening.

Police say James Schulze, 41, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following a family dispute at the 7500 block of Fireoak Drive, where police were called just before 7 p.m.

SWAT was called to the scene when Schulze barricaded himself inside the house, where weapons were present. No other family members were inside the house at the time.

Immediate neighbors were voluntarily evacuated while police tried to coax Schulze out of the house using a robot. He eventually came out of the house peacefully and surrendered to police.

Schulze’s father received minor injuries during the altercation, though police at the scene did not specify what kind of injuries they were.

Everyone in the area has returned home after the evacuation.
