AUSTIN (KXAN) — As part of Austin Museum Day, the Texas Department of Public Safety is holding a free exhibit at their headquarters Sunday afternoon.

The theme for their museum event is titled “A Recruit’s World” which showcases a day in the life of a DPS recruit. Interactive activities throughout the exhibit include an obstacle course, physical fitness activities and games of logic and skill that represent a typical day in the DPS Training Academy.

Families can also get a tour of the academy, watch previous recruitment videos and displays from the Texas Rangers Museum and the DPS Foundation. Equipment vehicles used by the department, DPS Aircraft and SWAT will also be on site to demonstrate special resources the department uses.

The event is at DPS headquarters, located at 5805 North Lamar Blvd.  It will go on until 4 p.m. and is open to the public.
