CINCINNATI, Ohio (WLWT) – An incident called “unbelievable” and “totally unacceptable” by police in Cincinnati has gone viral on social media.
A Facebook video shows a young man, possibly a teenager, holding a weapon in the back seat of a car along Ross Avenue near Warsaw Avenue in the Price Hill neighborhood.
“One of the subjects in the rear of the vehicle produced a firearm from the window and began pulling the trigger of that firearm into a crowd of individuals,” Capt. Aaron Jones with the Cincinnati Police Department said.
In the short video, you can see people scatter along the sidewalk. However, no bullets left the gun’s barrel.
“Either the firearm was not working or it was, seems to be a joke, pulling the trigger, dry firing,” Jones said.
What happens next is even more disturbing.
“At the end of the video, you can hear the subject laughing and talking, and this was a big joke,” Jones said. “It’s not a joke to us.”
At this point, police aren’t sure if the gun in the video is real or fake. Jones said until the person in the video is in custody, details about the weapon are irrelevant.
“I can tell you that those citizens thought the gun was real,” Jones said. “It’s just causing panic. And it’s just totally unacceptable, totally unacceptable behavior.”
One major concern officers have is what if, instead of running for cover, someone pulled a gun and started shooting back, causing even more chaos.
