AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two men killed in a west Austin wrong-way crash have been identified.

Pete Steward, 44, and Michael Kollman, 56, both died after the collision on Sept. 10. Police say Steward was driving a Toyota Corolla the wrong-way on the 2610 block of Capital of Texas Highway, when the car hit a Nissan Pickup truck head-on.

Witnesses told police they saw the Toyota driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Capital of Texas Hwy. Steward died at the scene of the crash. Kollman was transported to the South Austin Hospital where he died Sept. 11.

Both of the drivers were wearing their seat belts. A toxicology report is looking to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

This is the 48th deadly crash and the 49th traffic death in Austin this year.
