Honor Flight gives Texas veterans chance to visit Washington D.C. memorial

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Each year, Honor Flight Austin gives Central Texas veterans a chance to visit war memorials in Washington D.C.

Now the group needs your help. Ashley Kamrath with Honor Flight Austin joined us in the KXAN studio to discuss their efforts for veterans.

Their mission is to get to every deserving veteran an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. The cost is roughly $1,000 for each veteran.

“Anyone can sponsor a veteran for $1,000 and get a ticket to the ‘Heroes and Legends’ dinner at Bob’s Steak and Chop House on Sunday, Sept. 25,” said Kamrath.

One flight will be for World War II veterans including Tuskegee Airman Dr. Granville Coggs. The other flight is the organization’s first all-female veteran flight.

On their website you can purchase a ticket to the dinner, make a donation, or recommend a veteran.
