AUSTIN (KXAN) — If there is any indication the presidential campaign in Texas is heating up, look no further than downtown Austin. On Sunday, Sept. 18, the Democratic National Committee is opening its Austin headquarters for Hillary Clinton.

Once up and running, the office at 61 N. Interstate 35 at Holly Street will serve as a hub for organizing activity in Austin for Clinton’s campaign. The office will house organizers and volunteers who will help with phone banks and organize meetings.

Sunday’s kickoff event is open to the public and because it’s Austin, there will be bbq.

On Friday, Sept. 23, Clinton’s running mate, Tim Kaine is making his second trip to Austin this summer to raise money for their campaign.

Last weekend, the DNC opened Clinton’s Houston office. The Houston Chronicle reported the crowd was “thunderous’ and kept chanting “stronger together.”

The latest financial reports show the Clinton campaign committee has raised more than $13 million in Texas. Trump’s campaign committee has raised just over $5 million in Texas.
