AUSTIN (KXAN) — Another Austin police K9 is retiring. Diesel has worked for the department since 2011.

In that time, Diesel’s partner says the 8-year-old Belgian Malinois has made 55 arrests.

“Everything from aggravated robbery suspects with guns on them to people who tried to run or fight him he had a very full career,” Officer Nathan Wagner, K9 Diesel’s handler, said.

They’ve worked together for the last three years. Diesel is retiring because of a medical condition, osteoarthritis.

He’ll continue to live with Officer Wagner, who is now training another K9.
