MISSOURI CITY, Texas (AP) — A Houston-area school district says two guns were found this week in a cabinet that had been recently donated to a middle school.

KHOU-TV reports that the Fort Bend Independent School District says the incident has prompted it to review its policies regarding accepting donated items for campus use.

The school district says a student at Quail Valley Middle School in Missouri City on Wednesday discovered an unloaded handgun in the recently donated classroom cabinet. The school was briefly put on lockdown after the student was found with the gun.

Staff members took the gun from the student without incident and later discovered a second, unloaded gun in the cabinet.

The school district says the cabinet had been donated by a family that thought it was empty.
