SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — Police in San Marcos hope a new sketch will help them find the man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl two weeks ago.

On Aug. 29 just after 6 p.m., police say the child was playing outside of her home on Bracewood Circle when a white car pulled up to the apartment complex. The victim told police the man in the car asked her for help because his back was hurt and he needed her help. When she approached him, he pulled her into the car.

According to police, he then drove to a parking lot a block away where he exposed himself and sexually assaulted her. When the girl told the suspect she needed to go home, he eventually let her leave. When she got home about 30 to 45 minutes later, she told her mom what happened, who then immediately called police.

In order to find out who the suspect is, police are canvassing the neighborhood on Bracewood Circle to see if anyone recognizes the person in the sketch. Investigators have also released a photo of a car similar to the one the suspect was driving.

The San Marcos Police Department is asking for anyone who has information to contact the San Marcos Police Department at 512-753-2300. Tips can be made to http://www.citizenobserver.com or Crime Stoppers of Hays County at http://www.callcrimestoppers.com.
