AUSTIN (KXAN) — The video of NFL player Ray Rice punching his fiance lead to a partnership between the NFL and the Austin-based group helping victims of domestic violence.
Joining us in the KXAN studio to talk about what has happened since the partnership is Camika Crawford with the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
Their goal is to answer every single call made to the hotline offering support for the victims of domestic violence.
In the days following the release of the Ray Rice video, Crawford said the hotline saw an 84 percent increase in domestic violence calls.
“People were saying I thought it was just me. I thought I was alone. I didn’t realized I was experiencing domestic violence until I saw the video” said Crawford.
