AUSTIN (KXAN) — The 15th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks on the World Trade Centers will be remembered Sunday with several events throughout Central Texas.

On Friday in Pflugerville and Austin, HEB will cook and serve breakfast to local firefighters and other emergency personnel. The event has taken place every year since the attack.

Also on Friday starting at 8 a.m. is the Greater Austin Crime Commissions’ memorial at The Austin Club. More than 200 businesses, community members, and city leaders will attend the event located at 110 E 9th St.

The first Sunday event begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Buford Tower off Cesar Chavez in downtown Austin. A group of firefighters and first-responders will remember the firefighters who lost their lives.

Then at 9:30 a.m. firefighters will do a Memorial Stair Climb at the Pleasant Valley Drill Tower in Southeast Austin. They have done this every year since 9/11. Firefighters will wear their full turnout gear, an air pack, and hose bundle to walk up and down the flights of stairs equal to the height of the World Trade Center. That climb is done in silence.

And finally at noon inside the Capitol Rotunda the Emergency Service Pipes and Drums will play.
