AUSTIN (KXAN) — A funeral for the Austin police officer killed in the line of duty was held on Monday.

Officer Amir Abdul-Khaliq was one of three APD motorcycle officers escorting family and friends to a cemetery on Sept. 1, when a driver tried to cut through the funeral procession and turned into the officer.

Foggy forecast: Turn on your low beams this morning as patchy fog blankets Central Texas. Ladies might want to skip using the straightener this morning, scattered showers are expected through the rest of the day.

  1. Crews fighting house fire in Northwest Austin: The fire started around 4:30 a.m. on Cat Mountain Drive west of MoPac. When firefighters arrived they saw flames coming out of the house.
  2. Austin High School investigating threat: One student is in custody after threatening Austin High School. Police say the threat is no longer credible and school will operate as normal on Tuesday.
  3. UTSA student dies wake boarding on Lake LBJ: 20-year-old Dominiq Amir Castillo Porterfield was enjoying a day on the lake with friends when he was injured while wake boarding. Investigators are trying to determine if he died from his injuries or drowning.
