Swoopes’ sacrifice motivates Texas teammates

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Every Longhorn player echoed a similar tone following the 50-47 win against Notre Dame. Senior quarterback Tyrone Swoopes motivates his teammates by his team-first attitude.

“He still has a positive attitude, always has a smile on his face, always trying to do the best for the team. It shows when he goes out on the field and performs. He doesn’t give into what people say. He just goes out there and plays and that’s what we need. If everybody comes with that attitude, we’ll be a really good football team,” Foreman said.

“It’s always frustrating when you don’t get what you’ve been working for but they told me that I’d get the chance to do the package that I have and just be ready when they need me,” Swoopes said.

Swoopes answered the call Sunday night with three rushing touchdowns including the game-winner in double overtime. Swoopes’ role in the offense reached legendary status and it’s not likely to change according to Texas’ offensive coordinator.

“He’s a big strong, great athlete, he’s highly highly competitive, he’s a great person had a really good feeling about the things we wanted to do with him. The things we carry in our offense just about being creative and putting guys in a situation to be successful,” Sterlin Gilbert said.
