Allergy Ready for Back to School

As the kids head back to school, the need for food allergy awareness is high.The experts at Five Star ER stopped by with what to look out for and how to handle it the right way. Dr. Brian Aldred shared with us the difference between a food intolerance and a allergic reaction. It is more common to have a food intolerance. Here are some symptoms of a food intolerance: burping, bloating, gas and a nausea feeling. If you eat something and have more severe reactions: abdominal pains, vomiting,diarrhea and skin rashes can occur.  Food allergies consist of hives, vomiting, itchy mouth or itchy ear canal and diarrhea. If you or your child has mild reactions, you can try some Benadryl, however, with severe reactions get medical help right away.
