AUSTIN (KXAN) — Thirty-six flights have been diverted at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on Friday.

While the flights have been diverted for various reasons, the bulk of the delays and diversions are a result of thunderstorms in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Around 9:30 p.m., American Airlines said they were trying to get 10 of the 16 currently diverted flights on their way to DFW. One of those flights will remain at ABIA overnight.

Flights have been diverted throughout Texas and Oklahoma due to the thunderstorms. The airline says they are determining which flights will have to be cancelled.
