AUSTIN (KXAN) — Construction crews began work on Seton’s new pedestrian sky bridge Sunday morning.

The bridge will be built to connect the Red River parking garage on 15th Street to Dell Seton Medical Center at UT. This will allow patients and visitors to reach both locations despite road traffic or inclement weather.

Installation began Friday night and will end Sunday, August 14th. Due to the construction, 15th street between Red River and Trinity will be closed during the weekend, however, emergency vehicles will still have access to University Center Brackenridge.

The sky bridge is set to open May 2017.
