Construction underway for 35th Street Underground Electrical Service Project

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Energy has partnered up with Austin Water to begin work on the 35th Street Underground Electrical Service project Saturday morning.

Work for the underground project will happen on the north side of 35th Street from Foothill Drive to the east of Hillview Road. Construction on the project is expected to take six months.

Four phases will be conducted during the construction process. In the first phase of the project, flaggers will be positioned at Foothill Drive, limiting traffic to one lane at that time. Crews will work on the project from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, with some work restricted to weekends.

The project will consists of crews installing 2,635 linear feel of underground electrical feeders in the area in order to upgrade electric services to the Davis Water Treatment Plant on 3500 West 35th Street.
