Austinites stranded in Toronto

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Several Austin travelers were left without a place to sleep or a flight out of Toronto after their Condor flight was diverted.

Condor Airlines says a flight from Austin to Frankfurt, Germany was diverted to Toronto after technical issues with the plane. The flight landed safely around 2:50 a.m.

The plane is now being investigated by maintenance experts after the airline says there was a defect found in a hydraulic system. A spokesperson for the airline said the alternative systems took over in the place due to the defect.

“This is part of the standard situations for which our crews are trained regularly. There was not risk for the passengers or crew at any time,” said the spokesperson.

The airline says they are working to accommodate the travelers and find them places to stay for now. They claim safety is their top priority and apologize for the inconvenience.

Passengers say they have yet to receive any kind of update from the airline on when their next flight would leave Toronto. Among those stranded are children and handicapped people, according to the passengers.
