Man killed in East Austin shooting, another injured

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Police are searching for the suspect in a deadly shooting in East Austin, Thursday night.

Austin police say a man is dead following the 9:30 p.m. incident in the 1800 block of Elmira Road, next to the intersection of E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Springdale Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with non-life threatening injuries, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. ATCEMS also tells KXAN that the man who died was in his 20s.

A police helicopter was seen patrolling the skies above the scene, and several streets were blocked off during the investigation.
