AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two people died in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 290 at Holder Lane, just west of Dripping Springs.

The crash involving a car and a truck hauling a RV happened Thursday around 4 p.m. The Department of Public Safety says Richard Zavala, 34, of Austin died at the scene and Ashley Puente, 25, also of Austin, died at the hospital Friday morning. Both were in the car and wearing their seatbelts.

Initial information indicates the driver of a Jetta was heading westbound on U.S. 290 and made a left turn and drove into the path of the pickup truck. A third person inside the Jetta is still in the hospital. They were also wearing their seatbelt.
