NEW BRAUNFELS (KXAN) — New Braunfels police are investigating after a man who shot Wednesday night.

Police say they were called to the 600 block of Cherokee Boulevard around 8 p.m. after reports of a gunshot victim. When they arrived, officers found a 33-year-old man shot in the stomach.

The man was shot with a handgun during a fight between neighbors, according to police. He was transported to the San Antonio Military Medical Center. At this time he is unable to speak with investigators and is in critical condition.

An update from police identified the shooter as a 44-year-old New Braunfels resident. Investigators say while the men did live on the same street, they don’t think they knew each other before the shooting.

It is unclear if anyone has been arrested in the case. Officers say there is no danger to the public. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
