AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police gave chase briefly Thursday evening after they were called by a bounty hunter to help bring a wanted man into custody.
At 6:11 p.m., police got a call from “Manny the Bounty Hunter,” part of a family of bounty hunters. Police would only say the suspect, who was in the car with an adult woman and a child, was wanted on a second degree felony warrant.
Officers arrived to the 3000 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. to find the suspect driving away. He finally pulled over in the 10000 block of FM 969, in the parking lot of Donn’s BBQ at Imperial Drive.
The two passengers got out of the car, but the man driving refused to leave. The bounty hunter says police shot the car’s back window out with a beanbag round.
The driver eventually got out and ran away. A police K9 was able to bite the man and take him into custody. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
