DALLAS (KXAN) — Dallas police are investigating the death of a three-year-old who was left in a car during the heat of the day.
The young boy was in a car outside a Dallas-area church Sunday afternoon. The temperatures at that time reached 100 degrees. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
Services were taking place at the church when the boy’s father was taken outside. Church members say a language barrier complicated the efforts to get help.
This is the fifth hot car death in Texas this summer. In June, a Dallas man was charged with manslaughter in the death of his 6-month-old daughter who was left in a minivan parked outside the family’s home.
